Promo rules

Are DoorDash Promo Codes One Time Use?

Most DoorDash promo codes are single-use per account, and the redemption record is permanent — it does not reset annually or when a campaign relaunches.

But "single use" covers three different levels of restriction, and the difference matters when someone shares a code with you. Some codes are one-per-account. Some are one-per-household. And partner-issued codes are locked to the specific account they were issued to, which means a shared one will always fail.

Step by step

How to work out a code's redemption limit

  1. Check whether it is a code or a storefront condition

If there is nothing to type, it is a merchant offer and it is unlimited while the campaign runs.

  2. Look at the promo wallet for remaining redemptions

Multi-order packages show how many uses are left and when they all expire.

  3. Assume partner codes are account-locked

Codes from carriers, banks and similar partners are generated per person and cannot be shared.

  4. Treat welcome offers as household-scoped

New-customer eligibility counts across address, device and payment method, not just email.

Background

The four levels of redemption limit

1. Unlimited while live. Merchant-funded storefront offers are conditions rather than codes. "20% off orders over $20" applies every time your cart qualifies, for the whole campaign. Most people never notice these are unlimited because there is nothing to type. 2. Several redemptions, one promotion. Multi-order packages — "$5 off your next three orders" — carry a fixed number of uses under one record, all expiring together. Recurring member benefits such as the monthly grocery credit reissue on a schedule, which is functionally unlimited while the membership lasts. 3. One per account. The default for platform-funded codes. Applies once, permanently. A different person's account can use the same code independently. 4. One per account, account-locked. Partner codes from carriers and banks — T-Mobile Tuesdays is the clearest example — are generated individually and bound to the claiming account. Sharing one does not work: the second person gets "invalid" because the string has been retired.

New-customer offers sit slightly outside this hierarchy because they are additionally scoped to a household. DoorDash counts them across delivery address, payment method and device, so a second account in the same home is normally treated as the same customer.

One practical note on cancelled orders: if an order carrying a promotion is cancelled before the restaurant begins preparation, the redemption is usually released back to the account. Cancelling after preparation has started typically consumes it.

Questions

Are DoorDash Promo Codes One Time Use? — frequently asked questions

The questions people actually ask, answered with the mechanism rather than a guess.

Still stuck? The troubleshooting guide is organised by the exact error DoorDash shows you.

Most platform-funded codes are one redemption per account, permanently. Multi-order packages carry several redemptions under one code, merchant storefront offers are unlimited while live, and partner codes are single-use and locked to the claiming account.

Platform-wide codes, yes — the limit is per account, so another person can use the same code independently. Partner-issued and targeted codes, no: those are account-locked and will be rejected.

No. A recorded redemption is permanent. A code used years ago still blocks the same code today.

Usually, if the order is cancelled before the restaurant begins preparation — the redemption is released back within a short period. Cancelling later typically consumes it.
