The daypart clock. Breakfast and lunch offers expire at a local time each day. A code with a month-long window can still be rejected at 2 p.m.

There is one thing that does not expire: gift card balance. Promotional credit, challenge credit and unused redemptions all carry dates, but a redeemed gift card sits on the account indefinitely in most jurisdictions.

Multi-order packages deserve a specific mention because they catch people out. The package has one expiry covering all its redemptions. Using two of three does not extend the third — everything lapses together on the same date.
