How to Redeem DoorDash Credits
DoorDash credit is fundamentally different from a promo code, and understanding that difference is worth real money. A promo code is a promotion applied to the subtotal, competing for a single slot. Credit is a payment method applied to the amount charged, competing with nothing.
The consequence is that credit and a promo code apply to the same order. The code reduces the subtotal first, fees and taxes are calculated on the reduced amount, and then credit is drawn down against the final total.
Credit arrives from four sources: service recovery for a problem order, challenge rewards, gift cards, and occasional promotional credit grants. All of it appears in your promo wallet.

How to redeem and use DoorDash credit
Check the balance in the promo wallet
Account → Promotions shows credit, gift card balance and unused redemptions, each with its own expiry.
Redeem a gift card in Account → Gift Cards
Entering the card number loads its value as account balance immediately. It does not need to be redeemed per order.
Place the order normally
Credit applies automatically at checkout against the final total. There is nothing to select.
Apply a promo code as well
Credit does not occupy the promotion slot, so a code applies to the subtotal and credit applies to what remains.
Watch the expiry on non-gift-card credit
Challenge and promotional credit typically expires within 30 days. Gift card balance does not.

About DoorDash credits
Where credit comes from. Service-recovery credit is issued when an order goes wrong and you report it. Challenge credit posts after completing an order-count challenge. Gift card balance loads when you redeem a card. Promotional credit is occasionally granted directly, for example by a partner sign-up bonus.
How it applies. Automatically, and in full, against the next order — you do not choose to use it. If your balance exceeds the order total, the remainder stays on the account. If it is less, the difference goes to your card.
What it does not do. Credit does not count toward a promo code's minimum subtotal. A $30 order paid partly with $20 of credit still has a $30 subtotal for promotion purposes, which is helpful — it means using credit does not disqualify you from a code.
Expiry. This varies by source and it matters. Gift card balance generally does not expire. Challenge credit typically expires 30 days after issue. Service-recovery and promotional credit usually carry their own dates. All of them are shown in the wallet.
Refunds. When an order is refunded, DoorDash normally returns the credit portion as credit and the card portion to the card. Credit refunds usually appear within minutes; card refunds take the usual banking days.
